If you are interested in sport for the disabled, this textbook is a classic. It is packed with information from the beginnings of using sport to assisted those with disabilities to gain meaning in life by enabling them to be involved in sports.
Sir Ludwig Guttman was very much a pioneer in the area of sport for the disabled. He was a neurologist in Germany who escaped Nazi Germany managing to get to the UK. When in England he was offered a position at Stoke Mandeville where he initiated a new approach to working with those with spinal cord injury.
Sir Ludwig was a friend of my late grandfather and stayed in my grandparents home many times. In my book explaining what occupational therapy is I mention a little about Sir Ludwig and his connection to my grandfather.
This textbook is out of print and very hard to come by. The copies I have seen online are very pricey. I am offering it for half the lowest price that I found online because I would like to spread the word about the teachings of Sir Ludwig. Your purchasing my copy of this book enables us to continue our work in preventing injuries and illness through spreading beauty, kindness, information and hope.
